Features of the Mongotel Softphone App

Here’s a brief list of things you can do with the current version of the Mongotel Softphone app:

Make and Receive Calls from Your Mongotel Extension on Through the App

You can place outgoing calls and receive inbound calls through the Mongotel Softphone app just like you would through the phone in your office.

Receive Push Notifications When Somebody Calls You

To enable this feature, you will have to grant notification permissions to the app.

As long as your device is on and you are logged in via the Mongotel Softphone app, the app will send you push notifications whenever you receive a call. Push notifications are the little pop-up windows that you see appear on screen when your device wants to let you know about something.

Busy Lamp Field (BLF) Lights Let You Know When Another Extension is Active

BLF must be enabled in each contact’s entry.

BLF technology uses “status icons” to show when a contact is online, busy, inactive, etc. These little status bubbles help you to know what your coworkers are up to and when you might best be able to reach them. Here’s what they mean:

  • Gray circle: Inactive.

  • “RINGING:” Their extension is ringing.

  • “ON CALL:” They are currently on a call.

Instantly Import Your Contacts with Contact Sync

We’ve fully integrated Contact Sync to provide secure two-way contact syncing between your phone’s contacts and the app and your Gmail contacts and the app. Since this syncing goes both ways, new contacts you add in the Mongotel Softphone app will also be added to your phone and your Gmail account (if you want them to be).

Note that it is not always possible to sync contacts from your Gmail account to the app, depending on your domain administrator’s permissions and much more.

Reroute Calls with Transfer, Hold, and DND Commands

You can execute attended transfers, blind transfers, place callers on hold (where they can listen to your custom call park music if you’ve enabled it), and more just like you can with a physical phone.

Use Schedules, Exclusions, and Routes Just Like With a Physical Phone

Many of the technical services that you’ve had Mongotel Support add to your inbound or outbound routes will apply to your Mongotel Softphone app just like they do for your regular extension—and then some!

For example, you can set a DND schedule in the app that prevents your phone from ringing when you’ve clocked out.

Add Quickdials for Faster Calling

Enjoy faster dialing of local extensions with Mongotel Softphone’s Quick Dial feature. Simply enter the display name and phone number of the person for whom you’d like to create a quick dial and click “Save.”
